Trying to find a Translator, but you’re doubtful of the items you can find? Are you aware how to choose the right company? Are typical translators the identical? What about interpreters, could they be not translators also? What things in case you ask your potential translator to find out if he/she is competent enough?

The following is best places to begin:

Ask your potential supplier (PSP, in the future) to supply proof of competence in the following:

    – Both languages: for technical texts (people that have abundant technical terms), the PSP should have his source language certified into a European C1 level (or equivalent) as minimum, and his awesome target language certified to level C2 or perhaps an experienced native speaker of the language (see: Wikipedia link below)

    – Translation competence: for technical texts, the PSP must have a minimum of 5 years of expertise translating texts within the technical field being a freelancer, Three years if done under supervision of a more capable translator, and double that when the PSP has rarely translated a text from the technical field.

    – Field competence: Ideally, the translator should hold a college degree inside a field associated with the translation topic (i.e. in Fisheries there exists only one or 2 translators who hold degrees in this subject or related field for many language pairs from the entire world. Some language pairs have none).

    Alternatively, the PSP should:

    – hold diplomas or crash courses from the topic, or

    – did from the specialty for many years (not translation related jobs), or

    – has experience translating texts inside the specialty under supervision with a specialist (for upwards of 3-5 years), or higher 5-10 years if occasionally/rarely translating texts in the specialty, or over Twenty years if never has translated under supervision of a more skillful translator.

    – Education: Always decide on a translator with advanced schooling. The experience good universities deliver their students will almost always be a bonus in translation: creative and independent thought, intellectual challenges, initiative and leadership, critical thinking and questioning, innovation, not to mention, good universities would be the method to obtain cutting edge knowledge.

    – Cultural awareness: immersion in a culture/community/country linked to a language is vital in translation, just as much for understanding nuances in the source as also in having the capacity to transfer those nuances into the target. This is particularly critical in texts in which the reader would like to identify himself with all the writing, such as many marketing techniques texts.
